About Bob Testen, MSW, LCSW, (919) 240-0203
With over 20 years experience in the field of mental health, Bob Testen, MSW, LCSW, President of A Life|s Journey Counseling Center, PC utilizes an integrative approach to treatment. Our belief is that the first step in therapy needs to be where the client sees their needs. Bob and his family moved to North Carolina in 2004 after practicing in the Chicago area since 1986.
Bob began his career working in community mental health in 1986. First as a Therapist for an award winning psychiatric vocational rehabilitation program, ILC; then as a Lead Therapist and Coordinator for MacNeal Hospital|s Psychiatric Day Hospital.
In 1997, Bob became employed by Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke|s Hospital as Senior Therapist in a nationally recognized treatment team, specializing in the treatment of impaired professionals. Bob continued with this program as it transferred to Elmhurst Hospital where it became known as the Professionals At Risk Treatment Services.
Upon relocating to North Carolina, Bob accepted a leadership position with Area Services and Programs (ASAP) in Durham County. He continued in this role until Spring 2005, when Bob left his role as Director of Operations to return to clinical practice and establish A Life|s Journey Counseling Center, PC.
